This is the third general release bottling from Islay's newest distillery, Kilchoman, having had the Inaugural and Autumn 2009 releases both of which were aged for roughly 3 years and finished for a few months in Oloroso sherry butts.

This is another small batch release with a growing cult following... grab a bottle while you can!

The ‘Spring 2010 Release’ has been matured in fresh bourbon barrels from Buffalo Trace for up to 3 years and finished in very active oloroso sherry butts for 3.5 months.

AULD REEKIE

Edinburgh has long been associated with smoke, whisky and royalty. It is reported that in 1777 there were no fewer than 400 illicit distilleries in Edinburgh. These easily went undetected in the thick smoke that filled Edinburgh. The smoke was such an issue in Edinburgh that the capital affectionately became known as “Auld Reekie”. In more modern times Edinburgh has lost its reputation as being the smoky capital of Scotland with the island of Islay now more synonymous in whisky circles with smoke than Edinburgh.

Duncan Taylor's Auld Reekie is a 12 year old bottling of Islay Malt whisky. Each cask is specially selected for the pungent smoky character unique to Islay whisky.

Auld Reekie is bottled at 46%, natural colour, without the aid of chill-filtration.

MACLEODS LAPHROAIG 1997

This 40 year old is a truly amazing whisky, so fresh and vibrant for an old whisky. This whisky has been made for people to drink!

Colour: Rich dark mysterious Gold

Nose: Reminiscent of relaxing in an old leather armchair while eating walnuts and chocolate covered raisins.

Flavour: A sweet initial taste, orange segments dipped in liquid chocolate. Then a lovely flavour of burnt brown
sugar at the back of the mouth

Finish: The dry finish oozes big tannins and more rich
dark cocoa beans. Let the whisky breathe a little or add a drop or two of water to fully open up the dram

BENROMACH PEAT SMOKE

Bottled at 46% and from a batched of peated spirit made with 35ppm malt! Distilled in 2002 and matured entirely in first fill bourbon casks.

Tasting Notes:
Undiluted
Nose: Sweet, burnt sugar aromas with wood smoke and a gentle phenolic / medicinal note. Hints of Granny Smith apples.
Palate: Peat smoke and ash followed by sweet, toasted malt. Hints of
spice and charred oak are followed by subtle phenolic flavours.

Diluted
Nose: The sweetness is still evident but the phenolic character is more
pronounced. Medicinal notes - Germolene and TCP are laced by
a smoky, earthy aroma. A delicate floral edge is also present.
Palate: Smoky - hints of creosote and birch wood. A sweet, treacle toffee note follows. A rich, mulled fruit flavour also adds balance.
However, the peat smoke character is never far away.
Finish: Smoky with sweet malt notes.

COMPASS BOX PEAT MONSTER

Tasting Notes:
The aroma is a highly aromatic combination of fruit, spice and marine peatiness in the form of a beach bonfire.

Adding water brings out aromas that remind you of burning ropes and a touch of iodine.

In the mouth it is very full on the palate, rich and loaded with flavour: a bacon-fat smokiness, full-blown peat, a maltiness, hints of fruit and spice.

The finish goes on seemingly forever, echoing peat and smoke for several minutes after you've had a sip.
