The coastal darling Ardnamurchan's new cask strength expression is here. As with previous releases, the vatting is primarily peated whisky from American oak barrels, and a smidgeon of unpeated ex-sherry casks. Aromas of creamy vanilla and bright citrus zest leap from the glass, with a lingering coastal peat smoke in the background. The maritime peat makes itself known on the palate, with ripe orchard fruits, tangly grapefruit and gentle oak spice. The finish leaves you with an earthy and oily texture, with subtle seaweed salinity and hints of smoke.
