This expression is part of parcel #11 of the Single Malts of Scotland 'Reserve Casks' series, distilled at Caol Ila distillery in 2012, this bottling was matured for eleven years in a small parcel of four refill butts. The nose is rich, with aromas of leather, soft dates, and smoky bacon with cherry jam. On the palate there are initial flavours of sultanas and stewed fruits, which give way to rich wood fire smoke and bitter dark chocolate. The chocolate notes linger on though the finish, evolving with the smoke.
