The Equipoise marks Foursquare's first release of rum partially matured in ex-Calvados casks. This outturn comprises of a ten year old ex-Bourbon cask rum, with a further four years in ex-Calvados casks, blended with a fourteen year old ex-Bourbon cask Rum. The resulting single blended expression was then presented at 61%ABV with no added colouring or chillfiltration. On the nose there are notes of fresh ginger and dried raisins, alongside tart notes of plum skins and granny smith apples. Dark chocolate and sweet pastry notes round off the nose. The palate begins with soft creamy notes of gently spiced apple pie served with vanilla bean ice cream, intermingled with tropical notes of coconut. The coconut notes continue on through the finish, combined with hazelnuts, black tea and more hints of fresh ginger.
