The McConnell's distillery was originally founded in 1776 in Belfast and is the oldest whisky brand in Northern Ireland. After becoming a household brand around the world, the distillery suffered a devistating fire in 1909 and the effects of the American prohibition forcing its eventual closure. The brand has laid dormant until its revival this year, launching this 5 year old whisky is a blend of Irish malt and grain whisky, matured solely in ex-bourbon casks. This is a classic Irish style, sweet and delicate fruits, wood and spice with vanilla throughout.
