Distilled from malted barley in what is known as a Coffey or column still, Spearhead is a new Single Grain whisky from the Loch Lomond distillery. Unlike most other grain whiskies, this is entirely made from malted barley, giving it a softness and roundess not commonly seen in the style. With a final maturation in special infrared-toasted casks, the overall profile is sweet with vanilla tones throughout, with brown sugar sweetness and a light fruityness. Backed by a toasted, oaky note, this is a great option for a light and easy-going dram.
