After 33 years of maturation in refill ex-bourbon hogshead cask, Adelphi have bottled this whisky at the peak of its maturation, with an expressive aroma and flavour of rich tropical fruit character, spices from the bazaar and exotic woods. Papaya, ripe mango and candied grapefruit notes give a feeling of livelyness uncommon of a whisky of this age. The shades of fruit and spices are carried on a richly mouth-coating texture, lingering flinty and mineralic. The Mortlach distillery is one of the most defining examples of the traditional Speyside single malt whisky style. This famous distillery label bottling from Gordon & MacPhail shows the rich sherry cask flavors Mortlach is known for - toffee and orange marmalade notes mingled with distinctly malty tones, with delicate sherry notes and a scent of woodland hedgerows. To taste, flavors of black forest cake, maraschino cherry and creamy vanilla are lifted by orange, gentle oak and a malty edge to finish.

From Highland distillery Mortlach, this whisky has been maturing in Virgin Oak, Tawny Port, and Red Muscat casks. This whisky has notes of sweet fruits, ginger and subtle spiciness, which leads into a long finish.

Maturing for 13 years in refill and virgin oak casks this whisky from Mortlach has been bottled at cask strength of 55.9%. On the nose there are meaty and woody notes, which develop into savory spices. Vanilla sweetness is also found with gentle woody notes. The finish is long and lingering with a dryness to it.

The result is a rather fruity and spicy nose for Mortlach, with elements of ripe pears and melon along with notes of boiled sweets and savoury notes of leather and spice. A splash of water introduces drier notes of almonds and wood shavings.

The Palate is rich, matching fruitiness with savoury undertones and drying spice. A Touch of water helps balance the spice and develop the sweeter notes.
